Review of Solaris (2002) by Katharine B — 19 Nov 2013
I haven't seen the Tarkovsky original and to be honest I didn't know it even existed when I watched Soderbergh's fascinating Sci-Fi film. After recently watching the fantastic Gravity in all it's 3D IMAX glory, I think it's time to revisit Clooney in space one more time.
Soderbergh's success has always been with people, people and their relationships. They are always very real and this has always been what drives my appreciation of his films. Solaris does just that and does it extremely well.
With a stellar score, a memorable performance from Clooney and a haunting storyline, this is an intelligent and visually impressive addition to Soderbergh's filmography.
