Review of Solaris (2002) by Angie M — 07 Jun 2010
This adaptation of Solaris focuses on Kelvin and his relationship with his wife, the strain their marriage underwent and the tragic end to it. The "science" part of the planet or its possible alien culture aren't dwelt on too much.
It definitely raises some questions regarding love and humanity. However, I don't know if there was something disjointed about the script or the lack of chemistry between the actors, but I couldn't empathize with either Kelvin or his wife.
As such, the emotions that were supposed to be provoked on account of Kelvin were missing. Aesthetically, though, the movie is beautiful!
