Review of Solaris (2002) by Philip S — 25 Feb 2014
Despite being beautifully shot, this feels like a capable piece of television, falling short of the cinematic atmosphere it is so clearly trying to evoke. It's continuous attempts to be enigmatic are painfully transparent.
I wanted so much for this to be better, and it's ok, but it certainly makes me want to see the original. If Tarkovsky's take is anything like Stalker, then it'll be at least twice as good.
