Review of Solaris (2002) by Matt R — 21 Sep 2010
'Solaris' is an excellent sci-fi ride that twists and turns in a way that you will never expect. It's a cross between 'Contact' and 'Moon', 2 films that I hold very highly. This one however, does not quite meet their caliber.
George Clooney stars as Chris Kelvin, a psychiatrist who is asked to come to a remote space station in his friends most dire hour. When he finally decides to go, he discovers amazing and terrifying things are taking place that will challenge his own madness.
I did like this movie, although the pace was something to be reconsidered. I believe this role was a huge platform for Clooney who has had many more unique and interesting oppurtunities become available for him after this.
I am very glad I gave this movie a chance and I think if you want a good psychological science fiction flick that will change your outlook and perception of who your "visitor" might be, then definitely check out 'Solaris'.
