While highly original in premise that is creative in direction that reflects Asian filmmaking, Snowpiercer meanders on the poor vs rich in the way that hits you over the head all in extreme abstracts to a point it becomes boring. There is no character development and we are meant to believe two simple things, which is good is poor and rich is bad. This statement is reinforced by so many scenes that it loses its effective measure.

The only bright spots of the film is Octavia Spencer as she has a character arc on a mission to find her missing son.The Japanese male becomes a great character but was short lived. Chris Evans is serviceable as he can carry a film. He wasn't given any direction to make him a motivational protagonist until towards the end of the film which would've made the film a lot better of developed earlier. That being the emerging drive to survival.

The drive towards survival at the end almost redeems the film but then wraps itself in its over the head political statements. 2 out of 5 stars.
