Review of Snowpiercer (2013) by Fudlian — 29 Jun 2014

OK I've given this a 3 because it tried to be original and daring. It tried too hard though and it ends up as an unfortunate attempted cross between Brazil and any dumb action movie that you can name. I was disappointed because I liked The Host a lot but the dialogue here is poor, there is no characterisiation and the movie swings again and again from gory action to poorly-judged surreality to the detriment of both.

the problem is that action movies demand one kind of logic, quirky surrealist fantasies another, and this film has none.
