Review of Snowpiercer (2013) by Brandon E — 13 Jan 2015
Wow.... so bad.... for a SciFi movie to enable a viewer's willful suspension of disbelief the story needs to have a rational basis. A thinking person watches Snowpiercer and considers the countless ways that a 'perpetual motion' train would fail to run perpetually around the globe and how humankind might respond to this man made disaster and how LORD of the FLIES aboard a train might devolve into a rigid caste system with Ed Harris the King.
The world is in another ice age due to man's misguided attempt to fight GLOBAL WARMING and the solution is that this band of misfits ride on a Temperature controlled train? And this track runs in a big circle? And they built the train tracks through the treacherous snowy Himalayas? An endless supply of fresh meat and bullets, but they're stuck on a GD train - a freaking train!? Holy crap.
.. I like socialist, GWA mongering just as much as the next guy, but if a director wants to remind me how horrible I am for emitting pollutants and driving a car with 3 liters of displacement, at least make the story interesting and believable.
How IN THE HELL do the critics like this film - but Arrested Development gets canceled... good grief...
