Review of Snowpiercer (2013) by Jared L — 22 Jun 2015
Snowpiercer might be one of the best and most overlooked movies of 2013/4, and is a huge splash into the American market for Bong Joon-Ho. Daunting, thrilling, thought-provoking, visionary, and a whole onslaught of terrific acting from the entire cast.
Tilda Swinton brings together such a powerful performance that she could hold the boat afloat herself if this boat actually needed saving. The fact that this might not even be the best film of Bong Joon-Ho's not to extensive career goes to show you his talent and experience behind the camera.
He might be one the top Korean directors working today. Heck in my book, hes nearly in the same sentence as Scorsese, Tarantino, Nolan, PTA and a few others. Even thought I doubt well see many more American central films from Joon-Ho, a man can dream right? Snowpiercer along with Memories of Murder might just be the two of the top five movies ive seen in the past three or four years.
They both still linger on my mind whenever im seeing a new thriller, even to this day.
