Review of Snowden (2016) by Rob S — 15 Sep 2016
The film is 2 1/4hrs long, but feels longer. That's not the fault of the production, it's just that you can't tell this whole story in 2 hrs. A lot of info is thrown at the viewer, changing timelines, Stone's fondness for hand-held camera (which is not needed), but through it all is Joseph Gordon-Levitt's great performance.
His portrayal of Edward Snowden commands your attention. It's a complicated story, that seems like it should be easier to tell...but it isn't, and you'll have to sift your way through the info as best you can.
And remember, Oliver Stone shows you exactly what he wants you to see. There is no doubt another side to this story...
