Review of Snowden (2016) by Ben L — 23 Sep 2016
Snowden is a fantastic, gripping thriller that can keep you on the edge of your seat without the use of violence, but only if you are fluent in the ways of code, hacking jargon, journalism, and if you have an unbiased view of whistle blowers.
Snowden is the true story of Edward Joseph Snowden, one of my heroes who I consider to be like a modern day Robin Hood, pulling off daring acts of heroism to reveal to the public that even if the government isn't currently watching us, they have the power, ability, and the justification to do so.
Snowden is a truly haunting movie that is fueled by political events, fear of over surveillance, and popular genre director Oliver Stone's hard hitting and unfiltered view of the real world that we don't see without the help of the initiated.
With a fantastic performance from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a surprisingly moving secondary character played by Nicholas Cage, (I know, right?) and actual appearances of the real Ed Snowden himself, this gripping political thriller is a tale of a modern day patriot that should not be missed by anyone who loves their country.
