Review of Snowden (2016) by Allison K — 28 Sep 2016
Well then, I guess I finally understand what it means when it's an "Oliver Stone" film. Gordon-Levitt was excellent, as was Shailene Woodley. There was no subtlety with the subject matter, but at the same time there was no tension.
It was directed rather poorly, but for whatever reason, I found myself getting some cheap laughs out of it. Maybe it was because I was hanging out with some film friends, maybe it was because I couldn't take it seriously, but I found parts of it rather funny.
I don't think that was the intent of the film. In any case, it was a well-acted clumsy narrative that could have done so much more with so much less.
