Review of Snowden (2016) by Analytical P — 15 Sep 2016
Joseph Gordon-Levitt delivers an Oscar-worthy performance portraying of one of the most controversial figures in modern American history. Sadly, the hit-or-miss quality of the supporting cast and sloppy editing do not do this 2.
5 hour film any favors. While the Edward Snowden character has amazing depth and gives audiences a unique window into the mind of an unquestionable patriot as he faces down an impossible situation in which law and ethics are at odds, the two-dimensional nature of the film's other characters only serves to undermine the payoff in what would otherwise be an extremely fulfilling story.
