Review of Snowbeast (1977) by Colin J — 10 Jan 2009
Joseph Stefano wrote this? The screenplay master behind Psycho and The Outer Limits did nothing more than rip-off Jaws, replacing the shark with bigfoot and Amity with a ski resort. Overall this is watchable, if not slightly enjoyable, 70s TV cheese.
But the real downside is the potential the movie had. It could have had a real suspenseful story considering who the writer was and the great location in which the story was set, but it never reached the level of tension.
The monster is first shown in a very frightening way, but you never get a good look at it, even in the climactic scene, which suggests that the budget didn't allow for a full costume.
