Review of Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) by Stcenterprise . — 13 May 2015
After the insult to women "Twilight" was, "Snow White and the huntsman" feels like girls are in power again.
One of the reasons this movie has bad critics is probably mainly because people are still seeing Bella in Kristen Stewart's acting, which is not that resembling but people are probably just not ready to see something else.
Rupert Sanders' first movie is impressing and dripping from influences from Tolkien and Peter Jackson's treatment (such as signing dwarves and a Nazgul-like mirror). Relying on strong photography, a neat vision and good acting, the movie is beginning too fast and pacing sometimes feels wrong. There is an unnecessary hint of a love triangle and close ups on Stewart's face gasping for her breath (which is what pulls the Twilight references). Here is an example, I think, of a vision that did not take it's time to finish on the screen for production money (for a first movie that big, who knows what went on behind the scenes). However, visually, conceptually and judging by the treatment, this is probably the best and strongest version of Snow white on screen up to date and probably for a while.
