Review of Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) by Felipe C — 22 May 2014
It's pretty easy to slam movies that try to do an inaccurate take on a classic. To look at the positives first, Charlize Theron was the show and she is damn sexy as the queen and her acting is the lone bright spot.
On the other part, it was a poorly made movie. There is no depth in the fantasy world the movie intended and it looks like a place to go if you're all high. Chris Hemsworth is really misused as the Huntsman.
Even though he is a good actor, there was no chemistry with our main dislikeable protagonist, Snow White. Not to be mean, the movie shows once again that Kristen Stewart cannot act and you'll end up rooting for the Queen to end her life and save us from her crappy performance as Snow White.
My guess the producers were aiming at the Twilight fans but at least put on a strong film. I mean the other Snow White film Mirror Mirror was pure crap but at least it knew what it was doing (except for Sean Bean.
Why? I don't know). Overall, it's one star because Charlize Theron saved it from being a complete failure. She is the star of the film but a villain can only carry so much in a protagonist emphasized film.
Our hero was a complete disappointment. The fact they had talks of doing a sequel is WTF moment in my eyes.
