Perhaps because I have seen too many shallow offerings from Hollywood recently, I enjoyed this film. It is poetic; a sensitive portrayal of the relationship between two women, Lily and Snow Flower, in the 1800s, and two descendants in present-day Shanghai.
Even if the direction was a little slow, I didn't mind as I so enjoyed looking at the lovely faces of the beautiful actors.
