An otherwise slow movie is kept alive and thumping by powerful performances from Rockwell and Beckinsale and constant shifting raw emotions. This movie is not going to cheer you up if you are having a bad day.
The characters are depressingly realistic and effective. Green always has to make his movies a little weird though, so there are still some very odd touches that don't quite fit in, but are easy to let slide.
