For the first half of the movie I kept on thinking to myself, damn Kate Beckinsale is too darn gorgeous to play a waitress in a small town with that goof ball of a husband (Sam Rockwell). but as things turn serious in the second half, Beckinsale overcomes her beauty and does an outstanding job during those tragic, emotional scenes.
