Review of Snow Angels (2007) by Matt S — 20 Sep 2008
Bleak, but masterfully told and acted.
I love Green's style, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense to me now why this movie's release got buried (and then Warner Independent was subsequently shut down).
Here we have a story about broken people, their relationships, and the trauma that follows. It's hard to find fault in the film's production because it is well told and the performances are strong. Ultimately, there was no chance of a commercial audience for a film so completely downtrodden.
There are some kernels of hope in there, if you wait for them but they are overpowered by sadness.
