Snow Angels is great at characterizing themes of loss, forgiveness and revenge. An ultra downer of a film, it is nonetheless a very real, honest and ballsy story to put to film. While I have a hard time stomaching anything involving the death of a child (who doesn't), I do applaud any filmmaker who has the balls these days to end their film on a sour not. Not because I am a sociopath who enjoys sad endings, but because far too often movies go for a cop out 'Hollywood' ending that makes no sense, just to appease the viewer and hopefully rake in more money. (See War of the Worlds as a prime example of this) David Gordon Green makes the movies he wants to make and doesn't apologize and doesn't cop out and there's not enough of that in world of cinema today.
Great performances as well.
