Review of Snow Angels (2007) by Hugh J — 23 Nov 2008
The acting was super amazing, the music always fit the tone and camera work was good (except for a couple "nature shots" but we will discuss that later). But the adapted screenplay and directing (both done by David Gordon Green) was just awful.
There are several stories being told here but the main story is shoved aside for the more dramatic and "indie-ish" sub story about a separated couple. I don't understand why he thought it was ok to do this, it kept the movie from having a true tone or theme or point.
It was a horrible decision I don't understand why the producer did not stop this from happening! Also in the directing category there were a lot of what I'd like to call "nature shots" that were really unneeded and really seemed out of place and also why did they make the band directors speech seem to have so much importance with the rest of the movie? it was totally dumb and didn't need to be there.
