Review of Sniper (1993) by David G — 03 Sep 2009
Movies about snipers are always going to have a fair shot at being awesome due to the simple fact that snipers kick ass and while this example won't blow your socks off it's an entertaining 90 minutes.
It has its problems - sending an untrained civilian shooter on a mission of this importance is hard to swallow right off the bat (though the seasoned vet and nervy rookie roles of Beckett and Miller respectively fit Tom Berenger and Billy Zane like gloves) and I missed that awesome sniper lingo they use while zeroing in on a target - wind speed, distance, all that stuff.
It could also have done without the slow-mo bullet moments - a rather dodgy rip-off of the arrow bits in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
