Review of Sneakers (1992) by Andrew T — 09 Jan 2009
Passable unlikely plot with a stupid twist you hopefully saw coming. The people saying "it's complicated, pay attention!" are morons. Strathairn is fun (although maybe that's because of the mystique and coolness that automatically comes with blind movie characters), so is River (although nothing that makes me especially regret his tragic early passing - not that he wasn't good, I just don't see what the big deal was), weird seeing Mary McDonnell in her third different appearance in as many days after only knowing her from Independence Day for so long, weird seeing Danny from West Wing.
Ben Kingsley seems to do only great or mediocre work, and this was not great. Robert Redford is an overrated hack; if his face could speak it would be in a monotone. And it lost an extra half star for the ending alone.
