Review of Sneakers (1992) by Jayson T — 21 Jun 2010
A nostalgic ode to spy-capers of cold war days. This one is different though, there is tone of playfulness running through the entire length of the feature. It never gets as serious as say 'Marathon Man' or 'Three Days of Condor'.
That is not to say that it does not deal with a serious subject - it does. But this feature has been made on a canvas that opts away from darkness, murkiness and inherently perceptive danger in every frame.
A thoroughly enjoyable movie with high production values. Art department dissapoints though. Direction is very competent, despite numerous characters none feel like extra wheel, story is engaging, acting is very good, editing is taut, music lends a real atmosphere to the movie, and cinematography is very good indeed.
It is not a stand out movie, but it is wholesome entertainment package without any stand out flaw.
