Review of Sneakers (1992) by John K — 11 Feb 2012
This is fun: I first saw it in 1992, and 20 years later it's held up surprisingly well. It does suffer from "magic computers", but the central idea is valid: if you could use maths to find a fast way of calculating prime factors then it would undermine modern cryptography.
Similarly, penetration testing is an active field nowadays, and social engineering is a genuine threat. The cast all do a good job, and there's a wonderful cameo at the end. You could summarise the plot points quite quickly, but there are lots of nice touches along the way.
