Review of Snakes on a Plane (2006) by Dan B — 23 Aug 2011
Unabashed action nonsense that's nonetheless grimly watchable, even if only to admire such unwavering commitment to making a truly bad film. In a way it's the kind of grindhouse picture Rodriguez and Tarantino are always trying to recreate, but with the courage to eschew such trickery as wit, characterisation or entertaining dialogue (one much-hyped line notwithstanding).
CGI effects aside, the optimal viewing experience would probably involve going back in time to watch it on VHS round a mate's house in the 1980s. However, if that's not an option, then although it's something you might sit through if there's really nothing else on (like maybe when you're somewhere without cable) you are strongly cautioned against seeing it on purpose.
