Review of Smosh: The Movie (2015) by Michael M — 31 Aug 2015
A sort of Bill & Ted for the millennial generation, this movie also feels familiar to duos like Tim and Eric or Drake and Josh. By this I guess I mean it's hyperactive and juvenile, but still pretty fun.
The Smosh guys were never really my go-to comedy source, and seemed more targeted at people just a bit younger than me. The movie's no exception. Some parts made me laugh, some made me cringe, and some just didn't work for me on any level.
Their brand of silliness is an acquired taste, and if you like their YouTube material, I don't see why you wouldn't find enjoyment in their feature length adventure that is essentially Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure but traveling through YouTube rather than history.
For me, I don't have the same attachment to their shtick, and the characters and story were too thin for me to get that invested in. But did it make laugh? Well, yeah. I laughed pretty consistently, but only at a chuckle-level.
There weren't any really big memorable laughs, but there were still enough chuckles that I can give it a moderately positive ranking. Nothing particularly special or memorable, but it gave me enough chuckles that it was worth my time.
