Review of Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball (2010) by Bob B — 03 Feb 2010
Oh direct to DVD sequels. While Smokin' Aces wasn't a classic, it had a great premise, and a handful of very good scenes. The sequel just feels underfunded and lazily scripted, although the overall plot is actually pretty interesting. The assassins this time out get very little screen time, and none of the side characters ever really come to life. The script just doesn't give anybody anything interesting to do.
The best parts are the scenes between Tom Berenger and Clayne Crawford, but even they get tedious after a while.
