Review of Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball (2010) by Ryan S — 28 Jan 2010
The budget for Smokin' Aces 2: Assassin's Ball was dramatically cut in relation to that of its predecessor, 2007's Smokin' Aces. This results in a movie with fewer stars and less convincing (sometimes downright laughable) effects.
What you might not expect is a dramatic reduction in the quality of the story. It felt like there were scenes missing from the narrative. In addition, the actors for the most part get nothing to do. I wasn't expecting a lot of character development, but Loony Tunes are every bit as complicated as the players in this flick.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy the violent lunacy of this movie, but it only really amounts to sub-par escapism in the end.
