Review of Smoke Signals (1998) by Tara N — 08 Jun 2007
Well done. Insightful. Funny. Poignant. Well-acted. All this, plus it gives enormous insight into a community few non-Native People know anything about. How does history define us? How do we create our history? How do we come to terms with pain, when that pain seems to be our only source of identity? How do you feed 100 Indians with 50 pieces of Fry Bread? Get this film and watch it twice.
