Review of Smiley (2012) by Eric C — 01 Mar 2013
Roger Bart and David Keith each perform admirably, but there just isn't any reason to suffer through this film. The plot is a shameless retread of every movie you've ever seen, and the "twist" was outright stolen from another, better film (that I won't spoil here by naming it).
This isn't even of interest to genre enthusiasts, or slasher fans. In fact, it's even more insulting to anyone who has ever enjoyed a slasher film. Smiley ends up feeling like little more than a tease, a long, fruitless prologue to an actual horror movie.
But after this excruciating journey through ineptitude, I wouldn't trust the filmmakers to deliver a pizza, let alone another installment of this garbage.
