Review of Smiley (2012) by Michael H — 26 Jul 2013
Smiley is the upcoming horror film and internet star Shane Dawson's film debut. This movie is more scarier then the last movie I saw which was Grave Encounters 2. Its a classic campfire story where at the beginning of the film a urban legend is told. If someone says I did it for the lulz 3 times just like Bloody mary, a man named Smiley who's eyes and mouth are stiched will come up behind you and kill you. A new girl named Ashley moves in with her friend Roxy onto a college campus. When they do the urban legend Smiley kills a man. What is going to happen next and who is the killer or is this just some sort of prank? With Smiley, we get a new type of killer and a fresh new plot line. A killer who has a smile on his face. But the message of the film is kind of confusing. You troll people just to kill them? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The ending... well, you knew what was going to happen obviously. For you Shane haters, he doesn't dress up as Aunt Hilda or his Mom or Shanaynay in this movie he just plays a teenager who is a geek. He does not bad in his first feature film debut but he doesn't have enough screentime. Smiley still is a pretty nice horror film filled with lots of scares.
89/100 B+.
