Review of Smiles of a Summer Night (1955) by Pavle M — 22 Dec 2007
I have yet to see a Bergman film I didn't enjoy, but this is far from his best. It is very funny in places, but tends to drag in others. It feels dated, particularly the score. While the dialogue is clever, and the plot interesting, the various romances feel forced.
Certainly a must-see for Bergman fans, but others should avoid this one.
