With hints of It Follows and maybe The Ring. Smile is an effective, if not entirely original, horror film. Sosie Bacon, yes, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick's daughter, takes center stage as a psychologist who encounters a patient who comes to a tragic end.
Afterwards, she questions what she sees as she experiences more individuals with the creepy smile. Maybe a couple too many, but the jump scares are earned and the sense of foreboding is present throughout.
