Review of Smelchak (1919) by Jon L — 23 May 2014
Daredevil hasn't aged all too well, whether it's the sappy, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man imitation dialogue or the underwhelming -- even for its time. Although I'm convinced Michael Duncan made an excellent and intimidating Kingpin and Colin Ferrell couldn't have done Bullseye any more or less, it's Ben Affleck who seems to be disconnected from the role -- Affleck himself even announced disappointment in his choice to play the role in recent years.
But overall, Daredevil's not the worst in the Marvel universe and for casual viewers at the least, it's a decent Friday night watch if you're planning on having a nocturnal slumber party. For Marvel fans though, let's just denounce Daredevil as an overall mediocre attempt at transferring Hell's Kitchen's most trustworthy hero (or antihero?) to the Hollywood screen.
