SMASHED is a very honest, heartbreaking character study of a woman getting sober. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is marvelous in the role; she is in turn cutesy, sad, and frightening. Her complete submergence into this tumultuous world is nothing short of fantastic.
It's a shame she didn't get an Oscar nomination. Her work is better than Jennifer Lawrence's and Jessica Chastain's recognized performances. Aaron Paul is equally harrowing as her alcoholic husband.
I love SMASHED.
