Review of Smashed (2012) by Jt K — 10 May 2013
Though it falls into some typical histrionics of the "sobering-up" sub-genre, Smashed is remarkably restrained and real. The supporting cast is fine (Mullally) to very good (Paul), but the movie rest on Winstead's shoulders and she is fantastic.
It's a rich, layered performance that conveys quite a lot just through the way she carries herself. It may be a simple, small movie (and not always easy to sit though - though it can be very funny) but it's definitely worth a look.
