Review of Smallfoot (2018) by Tasha A — 10 Jan 2019
Considering the animation quality how could I give this just one star? Well, it's all about story and this movie is just propaganda for kids. 1) I have to say at the start, James does not jive with his character, they just don't fit.
2) The central premise is that religion is ultimately evil and false, even if it means well at the start. The link is made explicitly to God's laws being written in stone and yet being lies. The rest of the movie follows from there including the call to be "woke" and give up the inhibitions and hard work of the past.
Everything else in the movie is window dressing to it's main message - religion is not true, everyone will be good to you if you drop the walls that keep your community safe, anyone who is sceptical about leaving the old ways behind (ie.
Jumping off the mountain into the clouds) is to be treated with scorn.
