Review of Small Soldiers (1998) by Zack S — 04 Oct 2010
Ah yes, another movie from my childhood and it's one I still enjoy it today. I think critics were being a little bit too harsh on this movie. "If this movie had all people, this would be Rated R" Seriously movie critics, why would the filmmakers even bother going that route?
The cast in this was outstanding. Gregory Smith and Kirsten Dunst are the most notable of this movie. They both were excellent, but I think the movie is best known for the toys. Tommy Lee Jones is definitely memorable as Chip Hazard. Overall, all of the toy characters are extremely fun and memorable.
The story in this movie is also great too. It is highly original and nothing we've seen before. Sure, there have been other movies with toys, but it's nice to see one with a fresh new take to it. I did think some moments in the movie were cheesy like the Titanic reference was completely unnecessary. In the end, I still enjoyed this movie for what it is. Definitely on my DVDs to own list.
