Review of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) by Liam B — 02 Oct 2012
Boyle's best film since Trainspotting. A film that is a rags to riches type story of two indian orphans who find their way to success through different paths as the main character recollects through his memories of sometimes adventurous fun and sometimes of horror that is worse seen through the eyes of children.
Truly a fantastic story only at times it feels dry and the entire plot centering around a game show detracts from it's authenticity or believability. The fact that it's centered around a game show is really a big disappointment because it became a more commercial and pop type film thats execution tries to attract viewers with it's empathy for first world fantasies rather than hard interpretation of a deep rooted message.
