Review of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) by Min K — 20 Oct 2012
A fresh, exciting film that is as uplifting as it is heart-wrenching. All based around a potentially absurd premise, the story unfolds cleverly, cutting between an interrogation and a series of flashbacks.
There are some moments of trite dialogue, but they are easily forgotten amidst the flow of the film as a whole. An aptly chosen soundtrack, mindful editing and cinematography, and actors who aren't overpowered by their own startdom all come together in a great work of storytelling.
(I also will note that there is some controversy surrounding the film in varying capacities. It is worthwhile to read up on those controversies if only to realize the discussions and debates that arise from the film itself.
