Review of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) by Baurushan J — 23 Mar 2013
The story is about an orphan from the slums who is being taken into custody by the police as accused for cheating on the Mumbai version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The orphan named Jamal proves that he is not a cheater and he knew all the answers as he tells them that he knew the answers by the events that happened throughout his life and thus we begin the flashbacks of Jamal's life.
While the story is visually paced well giving us a powerful view of the third world, it seemingly looks mind-blowingly stupid and nonsensical. The movie unexpectedly won eight Academy Awards out of nowhere when they could have nominated the list of the best in a balanced mode.
28 Days Later and 127 Hours were more better movies and more powerful films to watch especially 28 Days Later which proved that Danny Boyle could direct a good movie. That doesn't mean this movie is bad although it is good in some parts, it just didn't do enough for me.
Slumdog Millionaire gets a 6.5/10.
