Review of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) by Gregm — 08 Jan 2009
All movies stand on scaffolding that is artifice. The best movies (and this is one) make us either forget about the scaffolding, or not care one iota that it exists. This is the case of the latter. We know full well the improbability, even the impossibility, of the events here, but are so swept away by this film, its actors, its premise, that scaffolding be damned.
I do like it better than anything else I've seen this year. Terrific movie. And Boyle is one hell of a director.
