Review of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) by Rocknblues 8 — 05 Mar 2014
Slumdog Millionaire was truly an underdog. Originally supposed to be a direct to DVD release, this film hit with the general crowd and became a Hollywood hit despite it's un american actors and subtitles. Which is a true achievement given that we live in a time where the general crowd is action movie starved.
It's not a masterpiece... It's predictable, and the main character played Dev Patel pretty much has a one track mind. To win the heart of Latika. But what really matters here is if you're a fan of the typical underdog story. Your ability to enjoy this film probably hinges on that. These types of movies have worn a lot since the days of Rocky, but I think it's still a worthwhile film enough though it's not worth all of the awards handed to it.
