Review of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) by Caesar B — 12 Apr 2013
'Slumdog Millionaire', or as I like to call it '10.000 Reasons Not To Go To India' is a really powerful movie. Even though it has a beautiful story about love, hope and destiny it's hard to get into at first since it opens with torture and follows through with the exploitation, mutilation, molestation and abuse of poor children. One should not shy away from such issues, but if this is anywhere near actual reality for real life Indian 'Slumdogs' the whole of India should be fucking ashamed of itself. Anyway, let's not get too negative, it's a really good movie overall and even though it's a bit of a chore at times, I think it's a must-see.
Just found out Ebert died by the way. So sad, R.I.P. Ebert.
