Review of Slumber Party Massacre II (1987) by David L — 28 Apr 2008

One of the survivors from the first Slumber Party Massacre is having nightmares about a 1950s greaser decked in leather that looks like Andrew Dice Clay & is equipped with a guitar drill. Soon, he comes out of her dreams to kill when her & her friends are having a slumber party weekend. The girls & their boyfriends are up there for the weekend to party & have band practice for the girls' rock band. Murder, mayhem, & hilarity ensue!

SPM II is a huge wheel of 1980s cheese. It's kind of like a teen sex comedy mixed with slasher movies with supernatural elements(the killer coming from Courtney's dream to kill). The killer is so over-the-top & hilarious that you can't take him seriously. Not that you're supposed to anyway. He has a witty one-liner every two seconds it seems. He dances, does splits, & drills his victims with his patented guitar drill. He also plays guitar solos on it while stalking his victims.

The acting is really bad but in an amusing way. The guy who plays TJ is terrible. He does this stupid surfer-like laugh after every sentence.

This movie has a bunch of randomness in it besides the Driller Killer & his antics. We get a hallucination of a giant exploding zit, a frozen chicken attack, a "hand" sandwich, a blow-up doll used as a floatie, a guy named Mr. Damnkids who says one line(you can guess it from his name), a champagne fight amongst the girls with pillows that results in Juliette Cummins getting topless(again), & a guy on fire falling off an under construction building.

This movie oozes 1980s. It has the style, hair, music, cheese, & dialogue. It's very bad but in a good way. Its sheer ridiculousness had me laughing the entire time. If you take this movie seriously, you'll think it's shit. If you like bad 1980s cheese & go into this knowing it's a bad movie, you'll love it like I did.
