The movie is dark and violent, but it's also touching and beautifully shot (the cinematography is gorgeous).... Fassbender and Smit-McPhee are both outstanding in the lead roles.... the movie also has a good supporting turn from Ben Mendelsohn, in a villainous role.
... it's definitely an impressive debut, from John Maclean!...
