Review of Slither (2006) by Floyd R — 04 Oct 2012
After seeing Slither I can't help but think how well Gunn's other scripts could have turned out if he was able to sit in the director's chair, particularly the Dawn of the Dead remake which despite its goofy material I always felt took itself far too seriously.
Here Gunn has concocted a campy, gross, and enjoyable movie that not only keeps its well placed winks at horror tropes in their place but delivers unexpected turns (with great disgusting results). Plus, it still shapes a story around a cast of likable and/or entertaining characters, both points the recent Cabin in the Woods could learn from.
