Review of Sling Blade (1996) by Dj J — 10 Nov 2010

Sling Blade was one of those types of movies you could watch over and over again simply for the beauty of the dialog. I had no idea Billy Bob Thornton casted and directed this movie and I had no sense of what to expect from it, I simply just added it to my queue, received it, and played it not expecting much.

But, in the first 5 minutes I knew I was witnessing a masterpiece. The costume designer did a brilliant job because I didn't find out about Billy Bob Thornton until the ending credits rolled past, and if this is a representation of the quality of work he does, then I need to see some more of his movies.

Sling Blade was just way to awesome and is one of the best dramas I've ever seen. The story is captivating, original in my opinion, and will take you on a journey into the mind of a man who aims to do right by the people he loves.

I couldn't tell you why I've never heard of this movie. It seems like this movie should have had more acclaim. I simply cant explain how this film snuck past my radar all these years. What a excellent movie this is and I highly recommend viewing it.
