Review of Sling Blade (1996) by Nelson M — 30 Mar 2011
I guess even I'm surprised that this is the first time I've seen this film as I've heard it about it forever. It is a very solid drama with a terrific performance by Billy Bob Thorton, who also wrote and directed the film.
The rest of the cast, especially Dwight Yoakam and Lucas Black, give great performances as well. The film is slow at times, but there are some wonderful scenes that are very serious and touching even.
Overall a very solid film and Billy Bob Thorton should be comended for his acting, writing, and directing (it noww makes me wonder why he takes some terrible roles).
